Friday Update: Warzones
The focus of this week’s update to the official site is Warzones. A new Game Systems page has been added to the Holonet, and features several videos on the Warzones announced thus far. Each Warzone has different objectives and the accompanying videos will give you an idea of how each Warzone plays. Check out the newly revealed Warzone, Voidstar, below.
Warzones in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ are specific areas outside of the main character story, where players face off against each other in exciting Player-vs-Player combat. In order to give you a more detailed look at each of the different Warzones, we’ve launched a new Warzones Game Systems page! This new page will allow you to learn about each of the different Warzones, and each Warzone breakdown is accompanied by a short video displaying how the Warzone looks in the game.
Friday Update: Eurogamer Expo Highlights, CE Unboxing, Fan Friday
Today there have been three updates made to the official website. First, a video highlighting The Old Republic’s presence at the recent Eurogamer Expo has been released. See fan reaction to the announcement of the release date, and their impressions from playing the game at the show. Check it out below.
A second video released this week shows off what you can expect to see included in the Collector’s Edition of the game. The video goes into detail on both the physical items included in the box and the digital items purchasers will have access to in the game. A yellow and black lightsaber / blaster color crystal? Really?
Lastly this week is Fan Friday, where community creations are shown off in an official news post. In addition, official concept art and new wallpapers from the Return cinematic have been posted. Check it all out in the news post.
Eurogamer Expo Highlights Video
Fans at this year’s Eurogamer Expo had the chance to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience as BioWare co-founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk announced the long-awaited release date for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™! Throughout that weekend we caught up with fans, both on the showfloor and at our Meet & Greet, and asked them to give us their opinions on what they thought of the game. (Official Forums)

Friday Update: Smuggler Character Progression, PAX Highlights
The weekly update to the official website today is a fan favorite: a character armor progression video, this time showing off the Smuggler. The video shows off what types of weapons and armor the two advanced classes, Scoundrel and Gunslinger can use, and what they are capable of against Sith opponents. Check out the video for yourself below.
In addition, as you may know, last weekend was the PAX Prime convention in Seattle, Washington. As it has been for most shows throughout the year, Star Wars: The Old Republic was a huge success at the show, with the line wait being up to 8 hours at some points. Check out the highlights video below to see what those of you who didn’t attend missed out on and what the show-goers thought of the game.
Smuggler Character Progression
As your character progresses through the saga of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, you will see them advance as you unlock new skills and acquire or craft superior gear.
Whether running blockades to deliver vital supplies or evading Imperial patrols, the Smuggler must rely on his wit and guile just as much as the blaster at his side. As the price on his head rises and his enemies grow more dangerous, the Smuggler will have to acquire new skills and utilize more powerful weapons and armor to survive.

PAX Prime 2011 Highlights Video
Every major show and convention we’ve attended this year has been a blast, and PAX Prime was no exception! Throughout the weekend, thousands of fans visited the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ booth on the show floor. They were able to spend some time playing the game, and many even had the chance to face off against other players in the Alderaan and Huttball PVP Warzones! Those who attended the Star Wars: The Old Republic panel were able to watch a live demonstration of the Eternity Vault operation. They were also the first to hear new information about open world PvP on the planet of Ilum.
The reception from the fans at the panel was extraordinary, and it was an incredible experience meeting all of the awesome people who made their way over to check out the game. The reception from fans makes us truly grateful to have such dedication and passion in our community.

Friday Update: Highlights from Gamescom 2011
Star Wars: The Old Republic had a huge presence at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Fans were able to experience play from both the origin worlds as well as the Alderaan Warzone. And to top it all off, the game won the 2011 GamesCom Award for Best Online Game. Check out the video below to see what all went down, and let us know if you were able to attend!
We had an incredible experience at this year’s GamesCom, with Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ winning the 2011 GamesCom Award for Best Online Game as well as being a huge hit with everyone that attended! The air was electric from the excitement as fans and journalists filed through our booth to get some hands-on time with both Origin Worlds and Alderaan Warzone PvP! The reaction from the fans at the show left us feeling incredibly grateful for having such a passionate and dedicated community.
Knowing that not everyone could make it to Cologne for the show, we wanted to share our experience with all of you. Thank you for all of your continued support and enthusiasm for the game!
Friday Update: Join the Fight

We are excited to present Join the Fight, an all-new in-game trailer for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ premiering at San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
The uneasy peace established by the Treaty of Coruscant is broken and both the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire build their armies. As both sides prepare for open war, a new generation of heroes must rise up to meet the challenges of a volatile age, declaring their allegiances and fighting for what they believe in.
E3 2011: Fan Reaction to Playing SWTOR
With Star Wars: The Old Republic being on the show floor for the first time at E3 this year, numerous fans were able to come by the booth and get hands-on time with the game. EA has posted a video interviewing fans who were able to play the game and the response seems to be overwhelmingly impressive. Of course, EA isn’t going to post negative comments, but the fans in the video seem to have been skeptical at first but after playing are excited for the game. Watch the video for yourself below.
E3 2011: Tatooine Developer Walkthrough
The official site has been updated with a developer walkthrough video, showing off the newly revealed Tatooine. The video is played from the perspective of a Sith Sorcerer with his companion Khem Va and narrated by producer Dallas Dickinson. The quests are the same we saw earlier in the week during the Tatooine live stream with Daniel Erickson, this time however played as a group and with different classes. We get a good look at the Sorcerer’s abilities as well as a clearer look at the UI during group play. Check out the walkthrough video below.
Those attending this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo are getting a special opportunity to play through a new quest series on the remote world of Tatooine. Whether they chose to play alone, with a companion, or grouped with other players, they are getting a glimpse of some of the secrets lying beneath the sands on this dangerous desert planet.
For those who couldn’t attend E3 this year, we didn’t want you to miss out. BioWare Austin’s Director of Production Dallas Dickinson provides commentary in a new video just posted to the site. ‘Return’ Cinematic Trailer Unveiled
The final cinematic trailer in Blur’s trilogy for Star Wars: The Old Republic has gone live. Depicting a Republic envoy gone to Korriban, Satele Shan leads a force met by a surprise Sith attack. It is also suggested that this will be the game’s intro cinematic. Check out the trailer, titled Return, for yourself below.
Friday Update: Trooper Character Progression
Similar to the previous Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior character progression trailers, in this week’s update we are given a video showing off what the Trooper’s potential gear and abilities will look like as they advance in level and choose an advanced class. Check out the video below to see what the Commando and Vanguard have to offer.
As the elite Trooper rises through the ranks of the Republic military, there are several ways he can specialize his training, and several sets of armor and weapons to match. Watch this video to get a small sampling of the many different armors and abilities that your Trooper can acquire through the course of the game.
