SW:TOR Definitely NOT Coming to Consoles
Despite another rumor that Star Wars: The Old Republic would be coming to consoles as well as PC stemming from a Game.co.uk listing for the game, community manager Sean Dahlberg has made it perfectly clear what platform the game is being made for.
I know many of you have heard this before but I’ll go ahead and reiterate it for those of you who may be new:
Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently being developed for the personal computer (PC) using the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. While we recognize that there are other operating systems and platforms available for games today, our development is specific to the personal computer using the Windows operating system at this time.
As to why The Old Republic is on that list, we have no idea but to allay any confusion, we should not be on there.
Sounds like there is no chance of a simultaneous Mac release from that statement either as it is pretty clear they have only worked on a PC version.
The Old Republic Discussed on PC Gamer Podcast
This week the PC Gamer crew discuss Star Wars: The Old Republic in their latest podcast. The discussion is right at the beginning of the episode so don’t worry about having to seek around if that is all you’re interested in listening to. You can get their latest episode here.
The Old Republic is “PC-only,” says LucasArts boss
According to VG247, Tom Nichols, LucasArts’ online head, has reported that The Old Republic is to be PC only, conflicting with a recent report from EA boss man Frank Gibeau.
“It is PC-only,” said Nichols when asked if KOTOR’s Xbox tradition would be upheld.
Nichols further commented, “We’re just focused on the PC platform at this time.” Nichols spoke at the San Francisco announcement of the game the same day EA mentioned the possibility of TOR along with Warhammer Online moving to consoles. According to this, do not expect The Old Republic to be on a console near you.
