Blizzard does not see TOR as a threat
VG247 has spoken with Blizzard COO Paul Sams about The Old Republic, and Sams does not see it as a threat to Blizzard’s own MMO.
“No, we don’t feel threatened by them,” he explained. “We actually think that having additional players in the market is positive, because it’s going to introduce a broader group of people than maybe are available right now.”
While World of Warcraft currently has the largest userbase of any MMO, Sams acknowledges the bumps along the way to getting there, and warns EA that getting an MMO on the market right is “easy to underestimate.” Read more»
BioWare has “as good a chance as anybody” says Blizzard Exec
In an interview with EuroGamer Blizzard executive Paul Sams says BioWare has “as good a chance as anybody” with regards to their newly announced MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. “I wouldn’t bet against them, that’s for sure,” Sams continues, noting that the game is utilizing a “well-known franchise” and thinks that it will help push SW:TOR to success.
