SDCC 2011: Star Wars: The Old Republic Panel

Thanks to G4tv, the entire Comic-Con panel for Star Wars: The Old Republic is available to watch online. The panel is lead by Dallas Dickinson, and James Ohlen, Rich Vogel, and Stephen Reid also contribute along with some surprise guests. The video is about 45 minutes long and covers a lot of general information that many of you may already know, but there are still some good bits to see including some voice actor reveals as well as a new companion. Check it out below.

Some overview points that we learned:

  • You can customize companion characters’ appearance, such as skin color.
  • They are working on implementing customized companion AI to give players more control. More on this will be released in a few weeks.
  • There is an entire world for single-player endgame content.
  • There are over 900 voice actors in the game for English only.
  • “Thousands” and “huge amounts” of people will be let in to play during September beta weekends, so if you’re not already in game testing, you have a great chance to get in this fall.

E3 2011: Tatooine Developer Walkthrough

The official site has been updated with a developer walkthrough video, showing off the newly revealed Tatooine. The video is played from the perspective of a Sith Sorcerer with his companion Khem Va and narrated by producer Dallas Dickinson. The quests are the same we saw earlier in the week during the Tatooine live stream with Daniel Erickson, this time however played as a group and with different classes. We get a good look at the Sorcerer’s abilities as well as a clearer look at the UI during group play. Check out the walkthrough video below.

Whether they chose to play alone, with a companion, or grouped with other players, they are getting a glimpse of some of the secrets lying beneath the sands on this dangerous desert planet.

For those who couldn’t attend E3 this year, we didn’t want you to miss out. BioWare Austin’s Director of Production Dallas Dickinson provides commentary in a new video just posted to the site. 4 page interview at IGN

battle

IGN sat down earlier this week with Dallas Dickinson from Bioware and Jake Neri from LucasArts for an extensive Q&A about The Old Republic.

Don’t be fooled by the size of the article though. Not a lot of new meaty info in this one unfortunately =) Worth a read anyway. Might be something in there you didn’t catch somewhere else!

Check out the interview here.
