Friday Update: The Art of The Old Republic, ‘Hammer’ Flashpoint

Flashpoints are a big part of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and today we get a look at a newly announced Flashpoint in the game, Bringing Down the Hammer. This flashpoint is for both the Empire and Republic and takes place on a Republic battlestation previously thought to be destroyed. Check out the preview for this flashpoint below.

Bringing Down the Hammer
The ‘Hammer,’ a powerful prototype battle station developed by the Republic, was thought to have been destroyed in the war, but it has mysteriously reappeared in the possession of the expansionist Advozsec. Determined to assert their new power, the Advozsec have been using the weapon to conquer neutral worlds in the Outer Rim. Chronicle Books has released a new book which highlights the process of creating Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. Co-written by former Star Wars Insider editor Frank Parisi and BioWare Writing Director Daniel Erickson, this book chronicles the creation of the game, with over 150 pages of conceptual artwork and interviews with various members of the development team.

The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic includes over one hundred pieces of artwork, many of which you have never seen before. Much of the artwork is accompanied by text describing the process of creating each class and, every world as well as, the process of working in this previously unexplored time period in Star Wars™ lore. 250,000 Facebook Likes Leads to Image of the Week

This past week, Star War: The Old republic reached 250,000 “likes” on Facebook. To celebrate this milestone, the development team will be releasing a new image every week on the Facebook page.

Sith Inquisitor Added to Holonet

The holonet entry for the last revealed class in The Old Republic, the Sith Inquisitor, has been added to the official site, as well as some new media. Check out new screenshots, concept art, and wallpapers and read up on the lore side of the Inquisitor.

This week there are two updates to the official site, though we already knew about the Consular, and Threat of Peace isn’t much of an update, so really it’s like there’s one total update. Assassin, Saboteur, The Empire’s Secret Weapon

We already knew the Imperial Agent was the next official class in The Old Republic, first from some leaked images, and then from an official confirmation last week on the official community forums. This week the official site made it, well, even more official, adding a holonet entry for the class as well as all new concept art and wallpapers. Learn all about the newest playable class now!

Balmorra Coming to The Old Republic

Today’s announcement from the TOR team comes in the form of another new planet announcement – Balmorra. An independent planet currently occupied by the Sith, Balmorra should prove to be a key planet in the game. Ord Mantell Revealed for The Old Republic!

Ord Mantell is the latest planet that has been revealed to be present in The Old Republic. The planet is plagued with civil war between the Republic and separatist guerillas, and while not the most original idea for the Star Wars universe it should prove to be an interesting planet as it has not been widely publicized before.

Hutta Revealed as New Planet

The Hutt homeworld, more commonly known as Nal Hutta, has been confirmed to be a planet in SWTOR. This will be the first time in Star Wars lore that Hutta is visited so deeply so there will be a lot to learn here.
