SWTOR NOT Coming to 360
In case you hadn’t figured it out, yesterday’s announcement of SWTOR coming to Xbox 360 was intended as a joke and is definitely not happening. BioWare said they are committed to the PC only for this game. Hope you had a nice April Fools!
Star Wars: The Old Republic Coming To Xbox 360 [Update: Not]
UPDATE: As April Fool’s is long over and people are still finding this post, I just wanted to make it clear this was an April Fool’s joke and the game is PC-only for now.
APRIL 1, SAN FRANCISCO — LucasArts and BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced today that their upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online game Star Wars®: The Old Republic™ will be released for the Xbox®360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft as well as the PC platform. The game will run cross-platform so players on either system will be able to play with each other.
“We really want to expand the market and give as many players a chance to live out their Star Wars fantasies as we can, and bringing The Old Republic to the Xbox 360 will help us do that,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder and General Manager/CEO of BioWare and General Manager/Vice President of Electronic Arts Inc. “The PC and Xbox 360 work very well together and we are looking forward to The Old Republic being one of the few games that are capable of cross-platform play.”
Dr. Greg Zeschuk, Co-Founder and Vice President Development Operations, BioWare and Vice President, Electronic Arts Inc., added, “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was originally for Xbox and we want to deliver the same kind of experience to our Xbox 360 fanbase just the same as the PC fanbase. We are excited to take this title multiplatform and hope to make it compete with the biggest MMOs on the market.”
